(COLUMBIA, SC) May 15, 2013 – Joined by Columbia City Council Moe Baddourah, Matt Kennell of the City Center Partnership, Tiffany Boyce of the Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce and a full house of Midlands media, business & political leaders, Arnold Companies President Ben Arnold cut the ribbon for Marina Bay – Lake Murray’s new lakefront lifestyle destination.Marina Bay is one of the latest projects from real estate developer Ben Arnold. The resort-style development includes 216 luxury apartments (1br, 2br & 3br), a 7,800 square foot two-tiered deck restaurant, Liberty on the Lake, a convenience & ship store, “Ahh..Licious!” Ice Cream Shop, Better Boat Rentals and The Boat Club. With over 40% of the 216 apartments leased by InterMark Management before the ribbon was cut, this new development is already bringing new energy to Lake Murray. The anticipation of this new development has been building since last spring, and it has proven to be well worth the wait!
Lisa Arnold welcomed over 400 of the Midlands’ most stylish attendees at a private, poolside soiree where guests were welcomed with Marina Bay gifts including towels, koozies, sunscreen, lip balm and a few special give-away’s from each Marina bay partner - all important items for a day on the lake! The ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Saturday, May 11th outside the entrance of The Residence at Marina Bay located at 1600 Marina Road in Irmo. Afterwards, guests were invited pool-side to taste featured summer-time entrees and appetizers catered by Liberty on the Lake. Private tours of The Residence’s model unit and the amenities, including the clubhouse, Body Shop fitness center, upper-level veranda, theater and game room were given, along with group pontoon rides so guests could see the new development from the lake.
Luminaries in attendance included real estate heavyweights like Don Tomlin and his wife Rachelle, and Charles Kahn. Teresa Wilson, Columbia City Manager, and Executive Director of Trustus Theater, Larry Hembree, stopped in to mingle by the pool with guests, who enjoyed Caribbean themed food and beverages, and Liberty’s signature Banana Foster cheesecake for dessert (all served on sustainable bamboo plates).
After the event, guests were invited down to the Marina Center to see the Ship Store, “Ahh..Licious!” Ice Cream Shop and The Boat Club office, as well as Liberty on the Lake. The party continued as guests enjoyed cocktails on Liberty’s outdoor deck, overlooking the spectacular deep water views while listening to the band, Mystic Vibrations.

Liberty on the Lake at Marina Bay invites you to celebrate your independence on Saturday, June 30, 11am-7pm, at the future site of the new Liberty Tap Room on Lake Murray, in the new Marina Bay waterfront development. This big, outdoor party features music by live bands Pantasia (steel drums) & Parrot Heads in Paradise, pulled pork BBQ, oyster roast, the Budweiser Mobile Bar and the Budweiser girls at Marina Bay.
WHAT
Liberty on the Lake is hosting a giant, outdoor party at Marina Bay (next to Lake Murray Marina) to kick off the 4th of July weekend from 11am - 7pm on June 30, 2012. Enjoy Liberty’s famous burgers, hot dogs, corn dogs, pulled pork BBQ, an oyster roast, the Budweiser Mobile Bar, and more. Live music will be performed by the steel drum band, Pantasia, from 1-4pm, and by Parrot Heads in Paradise from 4-7pm, and the Budweiser Girls will be on site. The official Lake Murray fireworks displays launch from Spence and Dreher Islands at 9:15pm.
WHY
Slated to open prior to boating season 2013 at the Arnold Companies' new lakefront lifestyle destination, Marina Bay, Liberty on the Lake will be a waterfront outpost of Liberty Tap Room on Lake Murray. The restaurant will feature a full service restaurant, grill and bar with elevated outdoor seating, entertainment, and killer lake views. The June 30, 2012 party is being held at Marina Bay to introduce the public to Liberty on the Lake, a new outpost of the TBonz Restaurant group, in a fun, lakefront setting for the July 4 holiday. Attendees will be able to ask about renting a pontoon or deck boat at Better Boat Rental, joining Lake Murray Boat Club, leasing a boat slip at Lake Murray Marina, or pre-leasing at The Residence at Marina Bay.

For their innovative new "Deep Open" series, which features kitschy remakes of vintage TV show intros like "Laverne & Shirley," "The Jeffersons," and "Three's Company," ABC Columbia's "Good Morning Columbia" show descended on Lake Murray recently to recreate the iconic "Love Boat" feel at Marina Bay.
Amidst laughs from cast, crew and staff, Anderson Burns and Jonathan Oh - both ABC Columbia anchors - shot scene-for-scene recreations of the classic "Love Boat" TV show at Lake Murray Marina, Lake Murray Boat Club, and Better Boat Rental at Marina Bay, catching glimpses of the construction on The Residence at Marina Bay, which debuts Fall 2012.
Andy Burns in a snooty ascot, the morning show crew in multiple roles, double-decker pontoon action shots on the water, a cameo by Lake Murray Boat Club owner Jon Dukes, spot-on graphics, and the "Love Boat" theme make for quite an enjoyable viral video moment.
The clip will air on "Good Morning Columbia" on the Columbia, SC ABC affiliate television station, WOLO, for three weeks until the next deep open has its premiere.
For a bit of boating yourself, drop by Marina Bay and rent a pontoon from Better Boat Rental, join Lake Murray Boat Club, or if you have a boat of your own, then you can lease a boat slip from the Lake Murray Marina. It's all about getting out on that big, beautiful lake of ours, 25 minutes from downtown Columbia, South Carolina.
